How to check your phone number on MTN, Airtel, Glo and T2
Forgot your own number? Dial *663# on MTN or *200# on T2, or use the self-service menus on Airtel and Glo. Every code in one place.
New SIM, second SIM or just a blank moment: it happens to everyone. You don't need to call a friend to find out your own number. Each network has a short code that shows it on screen in seconds.
If your phone has two SIMs, your phone will ask which SIM to dial from. Pick the one whose number you want to see.
MTN
Dial *663# and your MTN number is shown on screen. If that doesn't work on your line, try *123*1*1#.
Airtel
Dial *121# to open Airtel's self-service menu, then choose Manage my account and My number. Your number is shown on screen or sent by SMS.
Glo
Glo shows your number through its customer menu. If you can't find it there, the quickest option is to call or "flash" a friend's phone so your number appears on their screen.
T2 (formerly 9mobile)
Dial *200# to see your number and your current tariff plan.
Other ways to find your number
- Your SIM pack. The number is printed on the card the SIM came in.
- Your phone settings. On many Android phones, go to Settings → About phone → Status (or SIM status). On iPhone, go to Settings → Phone → My Number. This only works if the network has saved the number to your SIM.
- Your bank app or alerts. If the number is linked to your bank account, it may be shown in your profile.
- Recharge receipts. If you buy airtime online for that number, the receipt shows it.
Save your number
Once you've found it, save it as a contact called "My number". It's easier than looking it up again, and some phones show it at the top of your contacts.
Can't see your number at all?
If no code works and the SIM can't make calls, the line may be barred, for example because it isn't linked to your NIN. See our guide on linking your NIN to your SIM, or visit your network's service centre with a valid ID.
